Umami Burger: Worth Every Penny!

I’ve been dying to check out Umami Burger for some time now and I finally had the chance this afternoon! The restaurant was pretty packed at 1:00 pm on a Sunday and we had to wait for about 30 minutes to get our table but we walked across the street to Paper Source and were able to kill time very easily. There are so many cute shops at a walking distance from the restaurant (GAP, Banana Republic, Papyrus, Starbucks, etc.) so killing time shouldn’t be too bad in the neighborhood.

I was not disappointed with the food and the service here. Our server (I think her name was Michelle) was very helpful and attentive and we had a really good dining experience.  My fiance and I shared the Truffled Beets Salad to start, which was awesome. I learned that all the cheeses are made fresh at the restaurant (wow) and the goat cheese on the salad was very flavorful. We both ordered the Umami Burger, and shared a plate of Sweet Potato Fries (delicious) and Thin Fries (nothing special here). The burger was amazing — 10 time better than Father’s Office, 25 Degrees, or any other designer burger joints, in my opinion. It was perfectly seasoned, extremely juicy, and the cheese crisp, tomato, and mushroom inside made it totally worth the steep $10 price tag.

The atmosphere is a bit trendy and even pretentious but the food quality makes up for it. Great bar area with wonderful beer selection. For PG-13 fun, I recommend the ice tea which is a slightly sweetened super refreshing green tea — very delicious

    • Yes, there are a few in the LA area. I think you’ll enjoy the burgers here. I thought it was better than Father’s Office!
